Once you purchase a road test package, we monitor DMV openings daily and secure the earliest available appointment at your preferred location in Brooklyn or Staten Island. Wait times depend on the season and DMV release patterns. During winter months, appointments in Brooklyn and Staten Island are typically available within 1 to 3 weeks. In summer, higher demand can push that to 3 to 6 weeks. We track scheduling trends daily and book the soonest slot we find for every student.

Before scheduling a NYS road test, you must have a valid New York State learner permit and have completed either a 5 Hour Pre-Licensing Course (MV-278) or a Drivers Education Certificate (MV-285). If you still need your 5 Hour Certificate, we offer virtual classes — enroll here.

On test day, your instructor meets you at the road test site with a clean, fully insured vehicle that meets all DMV requirements. If your package includes a pre-test lesson, you'll get a warm-up session before your appointment to review key maneuvers. Arrive 15 minutes early with your learner permit, your pre-licensing certificate, and a supervising driver over 21 with a valid license.

We schedule every student's road test for around the time their lessons end, because that's when they're most prepared. Unnecessary waiting causes students to lose the skills they worked hard to build, especially if they don't have someone to practice with at home or can't afford extra lessons. We're not looking to charge more for something we already do for every student: booking the soonest available appointment we can find.
